Every kitten at Bella Vie is raised with health, comfort, and wellbeing at the centre of everything we do. Here is an overview of how we care for our kittens and how to prepare for yours.

Vaccinations

Bella Vie kittens receive their first-year vaccinations before going home. Vaccination records are provided at the time of adoption so your veterinarian can continue your kitten’s care seamlessly.

Veterinary Care

Our kittens receive regular veterinary attention throughout their time with us. We work closely with our veterinary team to monitor health, development, and readiness for their new homes.

Spay & Neuter

All Bella Vie kittens are spayed or neutered before going home. This is a standard part of our adoption process and is included in the kitten’s overall care. Bella Vie oversees the procedure and cares for each kitten through their recovery before the transition home.

Nutrition

We feed our kittens a carefully considered diet to support healthy growth and development. When your kitten goes home, we will share information about what they have been eating so you can maintain consistency during the transition, an important step in helping your kitten settle comfortably.

Grooming

British Shorthairs have a dense, plush coat that requires relatively low maintenance, while British Longhairs have a beautiful semi-long coat that benefits from more regular grooming to keep it tangle-free and looking its best. We introduce our kittens to gentle grooming early so they are comfortable with the process by the time they go home.

Socialization

Socialization is one of the most important gifts we give our kittens. Raised in a home environment from birth, our kittens are exposed to everyday sounds, gentle handling, household activity, and human interaction from the earliest weeks. This lays the foundation for confident, affectionate, and well-adjusted adult cats.

Litter Training

All Bella Vie kittens are fully litter trained before going home. We use standard litter products and will share recommendations to help maintain consistency in your home.

Preparing Your Home

Before your kitten arrives, we recommend:

Setting up a quiet, comfortable space for your kitten to decompress in for the first few days
Having a litter box, food and water bowls, and appropriate kitten food ready
Providing a scratching post and age-appropriate toys
Removing any hazards such as exposed cords, toxic plants, or small objects
Scheduling a wellness check with your veterinarian within the first week

Our Kitten Health Guarantee

At Bella Vie Love Cattery, we are dedicated to raising healthy, well-socialized kittens in a loving and nurturing environment. Our goal is to provide families with more than just a beautiful kitten, we want every kitten to have the healthiest possible start and every new owner to feel supported throughout their journey together.

We believe responsible breeding begins with prioritizing the health, temperament, and well-being of our cats and kittens. We are committed to transparency, ethical breeding practices, and providing our families with ongoing support.

Feline Panleukopenia (FPV)

If your kitten is diagnosed with Feline Panleukopenia Virus (FPV) within one year following completion of the recommended FVRCP vaccination series, Bella Vie Love Cattery will provide either:

A refund of the original purchase price, or
A replacement kitten of comparable quality.

Shipping and transportation expenses are not included.

A written diagnosis and supporting veterinary documentation from a licensed veterinarian will be required.

Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP)

If your kitten is diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) within 30 days of arrival, please contact Bella Vie Love Cattery immediately and provide veterinary documentation confirming the diagnosis.

Depending on the circumstances, we will work with the family to provide appropriate treatment support. This may include:

Treatment provided through Bella Vie Love Cattery, or
Necessary medication supplied by the breeder at no cost, with shipping expenses the responsibility of the owner.

If the kitten unfortunately passes away during treatment, Bella Vie Love Cattery will provide either:

A refund of the original purchase price, or
A replacement kitten of comparable quality.

Shipping and transportation expenses are not included.

For an FIP diagnosis occurring more than 30 days after the kitten's arrival, the owner should notify Bella Vie Love Cattery as soon as possible. We will work with the family to determine an appropriate treatment-support option based on the individual circumstances.

Genetic Health Conditions

Bella Vie Love Cattery takes genetic health seriously and works to make responsible breeding decisions with the health of future generations in mind.

If a kitten is diagnosed with a qualifying inherited genetic condition covered by this guarantee, including:

Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA)
Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)
Autoimmune Lymphoproliferative Syndrome (ALPS)

The family must provide written confirmation and diagnostic documentation from a licensed veterinarian or appropriate veterinary specialist.

Upon confirmation of a covered condition, Bella Vie Love Cattery will provide either:

A refund of the original purchase price, or
A replacement kitten of comparable quality.

Shipping and transportation expenses are not included.

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)

We understand how heartbreaking it can be to lose a beloved kitten or young cat to a serious inherited condition.

If a kitten covered under this guarantee dies within one year of arrival as a direct result of a confirmed diagnosis of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), Bella Vie Love Cattery will provide a replacement kitten of comparable quality.

A written diagnosis and supporting documentation from a licensed veterinarian or veterinary cardiologist will be required.

Shipping and transportation expenses are not included.
